With all the media attention on climate change and sustainability, 'green' design/products have never been so relevant.
Global brands cannot ignore the fact that an ethical lens has now been placed on every brand, which in turn influence consumer purchase.
Sustainable innovation on product and pack can propel brands to the forefront of consumer minds retaining loyalty.
Plastic packaging is an ever increasing problem and the issues around sustainability, climate change and the rapid change in legislation inspired this exploratory concept for Baby dove, propelling the brand to not just being gentle for the skin but for the earth.
The challenge was to see if the brand essence could be retained and enhance utilising the technology of pulp to not only give clear consumer understanding of the brand, the product itself, but also its sustainability standpoint.
A simple innovation like this conceptual piece on how to reduce the carbon footprint, plastic use and waste of a simple every day commodity such as bath wash can have a huge impact on sustainability with little disruption to consumer (enabling new opportunity areas). This pack utilises pulp/paper foam technology for the packaging with organic bio based inks which would be biodegradable. The real innovation lies in the soap paper. Parents are advised to dilute bath gel for babies to avoid sensitivity reaction and with these meting bath sheets bath time has never been simpler. The sheets can also be dissolves and used for nappy changes. Less water in the product means = more sustainable transportation.
To design sustainably we must dare to dream and create brands people can trust and be part of.
The inks for the printing of the branding and the metallic is a bio inks so 100% safe to the environment and less harmful than current foiling and toxic inks.
