Unarguably, Chanel is one of the world's leading global fashion houses epitomizing luxury, style and elegance.
Chanel's vision is for fashion to be functional, with a mission:
"To be the the ultimate house of luxury, defining style and creating desire, now and forever..."
How do we innovate against Chanel's core values of being classic, elegant, timeless, exclusive whilst interlacing masculinity and femininity?
How can we create fresh, innovative products for new markets whilst maintaining Chanel's luxurious quality, uniqueness and classic class against the growing threat of hight costs, counterfeit item's and competitors capturing market share?
Combining the classic aesthetics and internal ethos of the Chanel's brand with fresh insights and opportunity areas within sustainability has evolved the Chanel X perfume concept into and extension line of cosmetics.
As one of the more notorious fashion brand's that is synonymous with classic style and chic, we have taken inspiration from the Chanel X concept and evolved it into it own cosmetic design language. The LBD (little black dress
range) takes the classic style and iconic Chanel No5 design language that consumers are familiar and comfortable with, and gives it a new refreshed lift. The lipstick structure is influenced by the classic chamfered jewel like facet form that is iconic to Chanel. This is made from recycles aluminium which the internal mechanism is injection moulded bio plastic (PLA). Saving 95% more energy than using virgin aluminium we are able to give a quality premium yet sustainable feel to the product. The semi matt finish contrast with the glossy Chanel brand type (xoxo) with a play on the iconic brand mark creating a playful hashtag of #xoxo meaning kisses.
The internal iconic gold tube is anodised aluminium continuing the eco positioning of the product.
This is a product which screams internal confidence. It is pure classic elegant style where the inherent positive attributes are subtle, the definition of class, it does good without the vulgarity. Aluminium is one of the earths most abundant materials that is both sustainable and eco friendly (which also allows for closed loop recycling marketing possibilities).
The reassuring brand mark is embossed onto the lid with the brand word mark being a small subtle detail. The outer packaging is a recycled aluminium press tube that is hermetically foiled and sealed for quality taking cues from the champagne category.
The concept is to achieve higher sustainability credentials without compromising of classic Chanel premium details and quality by amplifying the delicate small details unique to Chanel.
