Challenge

When Contactless payment was in its infancy in the uk and Europe, packaging was needed for the launch of their new Payless devices that would directly link to your app and topped up via your bank account.
The piece of packaging had to communicate tech and easily identifiable as such, but also needed to be low cost.

Value

The idea behind the concept came from emphasising the tech lines.  The client identifies this as one of their key assets and this was amplified with a neat tear strip with follows the flowing lines.
A simple matt substrate with gloss print highlight the branding under the lights of the POS.  To convey to consumers that this was a piece of new tech we stayed within the tech language but without the hassle of vac packs which annoy consumers.  The aesthetics resemble packs that you would normally find with tech such as headphones and wearables, but has a nicer user experience.  It was important that the device itself could be seen by the consumer for the technology to be understood.   Once you utilise the tear strip the pack folds open to reveal instructions and ideograms to explain how to use.  The outer packaging is biodegradable and the vac forming's are formed of PLA as these are seen as one use perishables.
